Route 66
Route 66 is no ordinary road, but a journey through America’s collective memory. Between Chicago and Santa Monica, this legendary route winds through dusty deserts, forgotten villages, vintage motels, and neon lights that keep the glory days of the American road trip alive.
Known as the “Mother Road,” it served as a migration route during the Dust Bowl (the severe dust storms that swept across the Great Plains in the central United States in the 1930s) and became a symbol of freedom and road trip culture after World War II.
Those who follow Route 66 travel not only through eight states, but also through time and stories. Behind every bend lies a bit of nostalgia: an old diner, an abandoned gas station, or a colorful sign that stubbornly reminds us of an era of freedom and adventure.
My journey was confined to the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. This series is a visual road trip through memories, encounters and moments along the way.
